Steps to See a Physiotherapist in NSW after an MVA:

  1. Medical Assessment: After the accident, the injured person will usually see a doctor. You should request a certificate of fitness from your doctor.

  2. Notify the CTP Insurer: After the accident, the injured person should notify the CTP insurer of the vehicle at fault. This is usually done through submitting a claim form. If the person at fault is unknown (e.g., in a hit-and-run accident), a claim can be lodged through the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA)'s Nominal Defendant scheme.

  3. Submit a Claim: A claim for physiotherapy treatment can be made through the CTP insurer. The claimant will need to provide medical certificates, evidence of the injury & referrals for necessary treatment.

  4. Begin Treatment with Us!: Once approved, the injured person can begin their physiotherapy sessions. The costs will be covered by the CTP insurer. It's important to attend only SIRA-accredited physiotherapists, as they are recognized under the CTP scheme.

Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance AKA a green slip is a mandatory insurance policy for all motor vehicle owners. It can protect the vehicle owner from liability when involved in a motor vehicle accident (MVA) where the parties involved have sustained injury. If a person is injured in a motor vehicle accident, CTP insurance will generally cover their medical expenses, including physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and any necessary treatment.
