Lingering discomfort that is left untreated can result in expensive claims, loss of time and a decrease in productivity. These injuries have a significant financial impact on an organisation, they also negatively affect the injured employee.

Physiotherapy plays an important role in the prevention and management of musculoskeletal injuries that can occur in the workplace. Our goal is to safely assist you back to work in a timely manner.

To qualify for workers compensation physiotherapy in NSW, you must be an employee who has sustained a work-related injury. All workers in NSW may be eligible for workers compensation for work-related injuries under state legislation, even if the employer is uninsured. Work injuries can include strains, sprains, fractures, repetitive motion injuries, and more.

Early Assessment

Our team at Physio Solutions Merrylands are experienced in the treatment of all types of workplace injuries. Injuries that are treated immediately are proven to have a faster return to work and reduced Work cover claims.

Treatment

We work in communication with your GP and other necessary parties to give assessments to determine contributing factors of your injury and to give tailored treatment plans that ultimately get you back into your daily routine. Our experienced physios understand the frustration of a work-related injury impacting other aspects of your life and aim to get you back to your normal activities.

Initially treatment may involve hands-on therapy, prescription of corrective exercises and advice on avoiding further aggravation of the injury. As symptoms begin to show improvement, we will be progressing your home exercise programme accordingly (ie. involve stretching and strengthening exercises). Movement based rehabilitation is essential to restoring function and modulating pain as inactivity leads to muscle tightness and weakness.

Exercise programs

As painful symptoms settle, a more structured and supervised exercise programme will be increasingly effective together with identifying work postures and procedures that may be aggravating your injury.

Education

Education and advice are an important part of management of all injuries, especially those concerning your everyday work.

Education on how to avoid further injury and resolve the problem if it were to resurface in the future is an essential part of our physiotherapy treatment and preventative approach.

Communication

A successful recovery from a work injury relies on effective communication between the injured worker, the employer, the worker's doctor, the case manager, the rehabilitation consultant and the physiotherapist.

Our Physiotherapists recognise this need and can work in conjunction with your team to develop a cohesive and successful return to work plan.
